Sonic Lip Balm Collection Review

There’s been a long hiatus but I am back and with another skincare giftset review from B&M’s, this time featuring the blue hedgehog himself, Sonic and his friends.

Skincare is super important, especially in the summer so you don’t end up looking like a dry, crispy raisin. Included in skin care, is obviously lip care but you don’t want to be using normal lip care if you’re a gamer, you want to use the Sonic Lip Balm Collection, so everyone knows how much of a true gamer you are, so pucker up those lips and let’s get into it.

The lip balm collection is like the Mario one I reviewed, where the blue box features different characters from the Sonic franchise on the lip balms, as well as Sonic coming out of a ring on the actual box itself. The collection includes 5 lip balms in the colour pink, green, red, orange and yellow with each relating to a different scent, character and title which are as follows:

  • Amy’s Courageous pink lip balm in scent strawberry

  • Knuckle’s Crazy green lip balm in scent apple

  • Sonic’s Speedy blue lip balm in scent cherry

  • Tail’s Heroic orange lip balm in scent orange

  • Dr Eggman’s super yellow lip balm in scent lemon

I do agree with the colours used for Amy, Tails and Eggman however, I find it strange that Knuckles is green and Sonic is red. I think it would have made more sense for Knuckles to be red and cherry scented and Sonic to be blue and blueberry scented. I also find it strange that Knuckle’s title is crazy and a different adjective to describe the character isn’t used, such as strong which would make more sense.

The packaging of the individual lip balms is just cheap coloured plastic with a cheap plastic design wrapped around it of the characters but considering the normal price of the set if £5, you can’t really expect much quality in the packaging. As for the appearance of the lip balms themselves, they are all white which is a little bit of a letdown, as it would have been nice for the lip balms to coordinate with the colour tubes they are in, but it’s not surprising as most other lip balms are plain coloured unless they are tinted.

The scents of the lip balms are pretty much non existent. The lip balms having a hint of sweetness to them, but the scent being pretty much undistinguishable. The scent lets the product down but using the actual lip balms is another story; it is easy to apply and leaves my lips feeling soft and moisturised, which I was very surprised about, as most cheap lip balms will not work and usually hurt my mouth due to the scents in them (so having little scent is actually a bonus for me).

As of writing this, the product is £3 in B&M’s and honestly, I think it would make a great gift for someone. Even though the colours could be tweaked, and the lack of scent is a flaw, they do work and if you are a Sonic fan and with dry lips, this would make a great gift.
