My Challenges for 2024
Challenges are a great way to increase the lifespan of any game you’re playing. Last year on the old site I gave myself a list of challenges to try and complete - I only actaully got around to two of them (Which I did beat). I’m choosing not to overcommit this year, keeping my list short so I can actually get around to the challenges amongst all the other plans for the website and other games to play.
Attempting my First Pokémon Nuzlocke
Nuzlockes are the main form of challenge in Pokémon Games, the gist being that if your Pokémon faints in battle, they become unusable for the rest of the run. Team wipes? Run over. I may have to adapt some of the rules for my run but it’s looking like I’ll be doing any type in Pokemon Sword or Shield, as they’re the games I know the best.
Dark Souls 2: Soul Level 1
I’m a litttle behind on my Soul Level 1 challenges in the Souls series, having only done Dark Souls 1 and abandoning Demon’s Souls twice, so next up on the list is Dark Souls 2. DKS2 looks to be the most difficult in the series so this should be something…
Dishonored 2: Random Goals Run
One of the two challenges I beat last year was the Dishonored Random Goals Run, where I span a wheel and depending on where it landed determined what my playstyle will be. Dishonored 2 offers more options for how the player navigates the game, so this run should be more interesting..
“52 in 52”
Stay tuned, say around 24/3, to see what this may be about…
Left 4 Dead: What are you trying to Prove? and Left 4 Dead 2: Still Something to Prove
The Left 4 Dead duology are up there with some of my favourite games and each of them has an achievement - What are you trying to Prove? and Still something to Prove, respectively. Each is for beating the game on Expert, which should be a fun and satisfying challenge.
Spyro Trilogy: 100%/The 44K Gems run
How Long To Beat has the original Spyro trilogy as taking 21 hours for normal playthroughs, 100% as 30 hours(?????). That’s a load of rubbish. I will 100% all 3 games in 12 hours total, which should be doable, as the combined 100% (Technically 120, 100 and 117) first place times on Speedrun.com come to 5 hours 40 Minutes (Give or take).
Check back in December, or just whenever I actually beat all the challenges to see the end result and how well these challenges went. See the individual challenges on this tab of the website too.
